he Midnight teams had spectacular success at the Memorial Day Jam in Reno, NV, capturing four championships, one runner-up, one third and one fourth place finish.
4th Grade/9U

The 4th grade/9u team had a great run advancing to the Championship game of level 1 competition. In perhaps the game of the day, Mele put the game into overtime with a buzzer beating shot, then made what appeared to be the game winner at the buzzer, which was then waived off by the officials. Incredible opening season for this crew.
5th Grade / 10U

The Midnight 5th grade/10U girls captured the Level 1 Championship going 4-0, with victories over: Grizzly Hoops 40-15, Brisbane Warriors 57-28, Pasco Bulldogs 50-46 and the Wapato Shooting Stars 51-31.
6th Grade / 11U

The 6th grade girls had a magical run to capture the level 1 championship. The team kicked things off with a 81-24 win over the 503 flyers in the play in game. Then in what can now only be considered ‘super Saturday’ the team pulled off two spectacular come from behind victories to advance to the Championship game. In the quarter-finals, Midnight trailed by 22 to District Champion Stockton Mustangs with 14:30 remaining, then mounted a stunning comeback to win 70-63. In the Semi-finals, they trailed by 8 at half to a very tough Grizzly Hoopsters team, and held on for a 61-60 victory. In a championship rematch from 2010, Midnight this time came out ahead 58-41.
6th Grade Boys

Palo Alto Midnight 6th grade boys won a hard-fought championship in Reno. Midnight 6th were undefeated, with their four victories decided by a sum total of 10 points. After winning both game two and game three on three point swishes in the final seconds, Midnight proceeded to win their championship game 51-47 in overtime against the Central Valley Hornets. During the trip, Midnight 6th and 5th boys also held a memorial to Igor Malik, a dedicated father and passionate Midnight fan who passed away in late 2010.
